Butler Elementary School - Fort Dodge

One of the goals of the design was to provide a one story neighborhood school building that incorporates a substantial foot print, which would reflect the scale of the neighborhood. Gabled rooflines and bands of different colored brick help to scale down the larger portions of the building and reflect the character of the residential neighborhood. The interior is also organized into clusters of classrooms or “neighborhoods”. Natural light is a key element in the design which is achieved through strategically placed skylights and large classroom windows.
